EL Dorado Chemical produces custom blends of mixed nitrating acid at its Wilmington North Carlonia facility. The process mixes concentrated nitric acid shipped by rail from EL Dorado, Arkansas with sulfuric acid or oleum produced on site by a third party.

EL Dorado Chemical's mixed nitrating acids are used as raw materials in the production of nitroglycerin, diesel fuel additives (cetane enhancers), mono/dinitrochlorobenzene and herbicides.
